Bambu TileBase

The line of Bambu X1 and P1 3D printers are amazing little machines. There are a variety of ways that users have found to placing them in their unique spaces - cabinets, rackets, and shelves. And, as each system has its own limitations, instead of building out some sort of structure to house my (5) printers, I decided to try to embed them into the space I already have.

As it turns out, (2) of these printers can nestle quite nicely into Ikea’s IVAR shelving system! Though, another hurdle: these shelving units I have are on carpet. Both not great for moving the machines around to change spools, nor for the pulley system that’s exposed under each of the printers.

(As a bonus hurdle, the spool holder Bambu designed makes the spool stick out from the left side over an inch. This would catch on the shelves any time you try to move the printers in and out to change spools. Thanks Bambu!)

To get the printers off the ground and easily access the the spools in the back, my first idea was to make a sort of sliding drawer that the machines can sit on. Though, using drawer hardware I’d then have to
